Lukyanuk to miss ERC Circuit of Ireland after crash in testing

FIA European Rally Championship leader Alexey Lukyanuk will be forced to miss this week's Circuit of Ireland following a crash on Monday during testing for the second round of the season.

Having already completed around 70 kilometres of pre-event testing, Lukyanuk lost control of his Ford Fiesta R5 and was unable to correct it on the sort of narrow road that's typical of the rally.

"The car can be repaired, the damage is not terminal, but we will have to skip the rally," he said.

After winning in Valais at the end of 2015 and then again on the 2016 season opener Rally Islas Canarias El Corte Inglés, Lukyanuk would have been aiming for a hat-trick of ERC wins on the Circuit of Ireland.
