Ingram calls for more support to maintain ERC title challenge

Chris Ingram is chasing more funding to keep his dream of FIA European Rally Championship glory alive.

The Briton, ERC3 Junior champion in 2017, began his 2019 campaign in style with top honours in ERC1 Junior on the Azores Rallye in a career-high overall podium.

However, he had to work overtime to raise the backing needed to compete in the mid-Atlantic and has his Toksport WRT team and tyre partner Michelin to thank for the key role they have both played to enable him to start Rally Islas Canarias next week.

“I am very grateful to have the opportunity to continue our championship challenge despite the fact we are still searching for the investment and sponsorship required for our 2019 ERC title aims,” said Ingram, who is aiming to become the first British drive since Vic Elford in 1967 to win the coveted European title.

Of his chances of Rally Islas Canarias success, Ingram continued: “I haven’t driven a rally car on Tarmac for nine months so It will be critical for me to get some seat time and find a good set-up on the Monday test.

“I won the ERC Juniors in 2017 on my first visit to the Island so I know how I need to approach the stages, plus myself and my co-driver Ross Whittock and the Toksport team are working very well together. But the main thing for me will be getting behind the wheel and getting a good feeling with the ŠKODA Fabia R5 again.”
