Griebel “honoured” by Colin McRae ERC Flat Out Trophy

ERC Junior podium finisher Marijan Griebel felt "honoured" to receive the Colin McRae ERC Flat Out Trophy, after he fought back to finish third in class with his Opel Adam R2 following a puncture.

"I didn't give up and I kept going, but of course I never thought I would get this fantastic prize," said Griebel. "I feel honoured to receive it. Any award with the name ‘Colin McRae' in it is very special, as he was such a great man."

Announcing Griebel as the first recipient of the McRae award this year, the ERC's sporting manager Jean-Pierre Nicolas said: "The way that Marijan refused to give up despite his setback, and the speed he showed afterwards, is what convinced us that he was a worthy recipient of the trophy."

Not only did Griebel claw his way back onto the ERC Junior podium, but he also finished the rally only five seconds behind his team mate Chris Ingram, in second.
