ERC Junior champion Sesks follows long line of young stars to try R5 cars

Confirmation of Mārtiņš Sesks’ R5 prize drive in the FIA European Rally Championship in 2019 means the Latvian will follow a long line of young talents stepping up to top-of-the-range machinery in the ERC.

Sesks receives a career-progression fund of 100,000 euros for winning the Pirelli-supported FIA ERC Junior Under 27 Championship in 2018*.

The support package pledged by ERC promoter Eurosport Events will be used to enable the Latvian teenage to contest two ERC rallies in 2019 – Rally Islas Canarias and Rally di Roma Capitale – in a ŠKODA Fabia R5 run by Motorsport Italia on Pirelli tyres.

It is then hoped he will secure additional backing to complete a full ERC campaign as he looks to take his promising career to the next level.

Other ERC Junior graduates stepping up to R5 machinery include: Fabio Andolfi, Emil Bergkvist, Jan Černý, Marijan Griebel, Nikolay Gryazin, Jari Huttunen, Chris Ingram, Stéphane Lefebvre, Filip Mareš (pictured), Tamara Molinaro, Łukasz Pieniazek, Ralfs Sirmacis and Aleks Zawada.

*Subject to confirmation of the results by the FIA
