Consani takes new co-driver for ERC but gets off to fraught start

Robert Consani has recruited a new co-driver for his FIA European Rally Championship campaign, with experienced Belgian Renaud Jamoul now replacing Maxime Vilmot, who is stepping aside to focus on his work commitments.

However, their partnership got off to a challenging start after Consani went off on the slippery qualifying stage, heavily damaging the front of their Citroën DS3 R5. He managed to limp to the end of the stage but stopped shortly after the finish, where his Delta Rally team was able to replace the radiator, enabling him to return to the service park.

"It was very slippery, but better to have this sort of incident now rather than later," concluded Consani. "Apart from that the partnership with Renaud is working very well and his experience is really valuable."
