After SS2: ERC champion Kajetanowicz gets in the Circuit groove

Some setup changes after the opening test helped Kajetan Kajetanowicz to be second quickest on the second stage of the Circuit of Ireland, round two of the FIA European Rally Championship.

Defending ERC champion Kajetanowicz hadn't been entirely happy with the setup of his LOTOS Rally Team Ford Fiesta R5 on the first stage, where he dropped 11 seconds to early leader Elfyn Evans, but some tweaks prior to the 11.87-kilometre Knockboy 1 meant he was this time the nearest man to Evans, only 2.3s slower.

He said: "Our feeling was better. We did some change before the start of the stage. It is my first time on the stage so I am really happy. The car is working very well."

Evans was quickest despite complaining of a power steering issue when he reached the end of the stage. ERC returnee Craig Breen was third, feeling he struggled with the amount of mud in the stage. Overall, Evans' lead is now 12.4s over Breen, while Kajetanowicz has jumped Alastair Fisher for third, just 0.9s behind Breen.

Next up, the drivers face the massive 31.21-kilometre The Glens stage, starting at 11h44
