Plenty of pleasure in home ERC podium for Grzyb after early trouble

Grzegorz Grzyb says he could take great pleasure from his FIA European Rally Championship podium on Rally Rzeszow, particularly after early time loss on the event.

Grzyb is seen as something of a local expert on the event, having won it twice before and also claimed four national titles over the border in Slovakia. He leads the Polish standings this year, and took another step towards a first crown in his home nation with a maximum score on Rally Rzeszow.

A puncture delayed the Rufa Sport Ford Fiesta R5 driver early in the event, but he was able to hold on to an overall podium place, even though he couldn't challenge Kajetan Kajetanowicz and Bryan Bouffier for the victory.

"Of course it is always a pleasure to be on the podium of your home rally," he said. "We had a few problems but then we were able to fight back, so this was good. In the end we couldn't fight with Kajto and Bryan on time, but our priority was the Polish Championship, so this is very good result with regard to this."

Co driver Robert Hundla said the result was pleasing given the difficult nature of the rally. "It was very challenging like always," he said. "The stages were complex, the opposition was very strong, and we had a wide range of weather conditions as well. It was not always easy for us, so well done to our whole team as well for helping us to this important result."
