RX team Hungary enters World RX with Kia Rio

RX Team Hungary will field a Kia Rio Supercar for Hungary's Lukacs "Csucsu" Kornel in the FIA World Rallycross Championship this season.

Kornel is set to race the car previously used in World RX by Italy's Gigi Galli as a permanent individual entry, with former WRC driver Galli also set to return to World RX later in the season in another brand-new Rio as team mate to Kornel.

In Latvia last year we started talking with Gigi and from the first moment he was very likable and friendly," said Kornel, who raced in the FIA European Rallycross Championship last season and qualified for the final in Belgium. "I could not find the words, because I felt incredible that someone who I admired as a kid was now sitting in front of me as a potential partner."

Galli made his inaugural rallycross start in 2014 before creating his own team, and raced in two rounds of World RX last season in Riga (Latvia) and Estering (Germany). He will race in selected events in 2017 but will miss at least the opening two rounds of the year in Barcelona and Portugal. "I am proud that Lukacs will be my teammate," said Galli. "His motivation and dedication impressed me from the first moment I met him. His personality will be very motivating to me and to the whole team in order to give our best"

The RX Team Hungary was created by Gigi Galli - driver / team leader with Stefano Favaro - Team Manager, and Balázs Cselényi as techincal sport director.
