Progress pleases ERC’s Gryazin
Nikolay Gryazin was pleased with his start to the 2017 FIA European Rally Championship even though he missed out on a possible victory in the ERC Junior U28 category.
Gryazin was leading the category in his Sports Racing Technologies ŠKODA Fabia R5 starting the final morning until his challenge faltered due to a puncture and powersteeering failure caused by an impact. However, he hit back to finish fourth in the class on his least-favoured gravel surface.
"I'm pleased with my progress because I finished this rally and last year I did not," said the Russian prospect. "It was my mistake that I cut too much and got a puncture and had a problem with the powersteering but this is rallying and this rally is really difficult so it was good we finished. I don't know if I could have won without the problems but maybe I could have fought for the win. Everyone in ERC Junior if they don't have any problems they can fight for the win because everybody is fast."
