More laps, more points for WTCC Main Race

FIA World Touring Car Championship drivers will race for longer but get better rewarded in 2017. With the exception of the two three-lap races at the Nürburgring Nordschleife in May, the weekend-closing Main Race will be two laps longer than the Opening Race.

The points structure has also been changed for 2017 with a greater weighting towards the Main Race. While the top 10 finishers in the Opening Race will continue to receive points on a scale of 25-18-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1, points for the Main Race will be rewarded as follows:

1 = 30 points
2 = 23
3 = 19
4 = 16
5 = 13
6 = 10
7 = 7
8 = 4
9 = 2
10 = 1
