Midday flash: Lukyanuk leads in Azores as Gryazin tops ERC Junior U28 battle
Alexey Lukyanuk leads Ricardo Moura in the battle for victory on the Azores Airlines Rallye, round one of the 2017 FIA European Rally Championship.
Kajetan Kajetanowicz, the defending champion, had been un top by 1.1s heading to today's opener but a crash two kilometres from the start has put him out to hand Lukyanuk the advantage.
Multiple Portuguese champion and two-time Azores winner Bruno Magalhães is third with Nicolay Gryazin, the ERC Junior U28 leader, and class rivals José Suárez and Marijan Griebel in hot pursuit. Ralfs Sirmacis is seventh having, like Griebel, been delayed by a puncture. Josh Moffett and Jan Černý are next up.
Chris Ingram was leading ERC Junior by 4.4s heading to the iconic Sete Cidades stage, while Sergey Remennik was in front in ERC2.
Following service in Ponta Delgada, the action resumes with the second running of Pico da Pedra Golfe at 14h43 local time.
