Le Mans legends for Autosport International

Wednesday, 13. 11. 2013 - 19:03, Zdenka Frývaldská

Le Mans legends for Autosport International

After taking yet another victory in the world's toughest race, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and winning the FIA World Endurance Championship, Tom Kristensen and Allan McNish will celebrate their sensational 2013 season at Autosport International next January.

In June, Kristensen and McNish teamed up with Loïc Duval to claim their ninth and third victories respectively at Le Mans, further enhancing their standing as sportscar racing greats, before securing the 2013 WEC crown for Audi Sport in Shanghai last weekend.

Known as ‘Mr Le Mans', Kristensen's phenomenal record in the race includes six consecutive wins between 2000 and 2005. The Dane was recently named by Autosport magazine as the best driver to have never raced in Formula One, with a career also including six victories in America's Sebring 12 Hour and race wins in the British Touring Car Championship.

"I love motorsport and the start of the new season is always an exciting time. It'll be great to be able to share that feeling with everyone at Autosport International 2014 in January," Kristensen said.

McNish's illustrious 25-year career features time in Formula One and three American Le Mans Series titles, while the Scot is the most successful British driver in the history of the Sebring 12 Hour with four victories.

"Autosport International really is a fantastic event, catching up with everyone before racing really begins," said McNish. "It's cool to get some time with fans, who can get so close to the stars and the cars, and as a fan of the sport myself, I always make time to see the next generation of drivers on the karting stage and what's new for the upcoming season."

Tickets are now on sale for Europe's biggest motorsport show, which will be held at Birmingham's NEC on 9-12 January. The Le Mans legends join John Surtees, Martin Brundle and Sahara Force India Formula One team driver Adrian Sutil on the guest list, with more announcements to come.

"To have drivers of the calibre of Tom Kristensen and Allan McNish at the show, with 12 victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans between them, is fantastic," said Autosport International Show Director Ian France.

"They're both favourites among fans of the sport, and I'm sure everyone will enjoy hearing about their latest Le Mans triumph and success in the FIA World Endurance Championship at Autosport International 2014."

Stars of the sport will be accompanied by cars spanning Formula One, rallying, touring car racing and historic competition, the 5,000-seat Live Action Arena and a variety of interactive elements. Under the same roof, the Performance Car Show in association with Autocar and PistonHeads.com will feature the best road-going supercars.

Adult tickets are now available from £31 and children's tickets from £20. For more information about the show, visit www.autosportinternational.com.
