Larsson: "I think EKS has taken the biggest step"

Friday, 13. 05. 2016 - 17:31, Public relations

Larsson:

Sweden's Robin Larsson is ready for the third round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship this weekend in Belgium, despite rolling his Audi A1 just five days ago in Hockenheim.

Larsson still managed to finish the final in Hockenheim despite the roll and is hoping to continue his strong start to the season this weekend. The 2015 Argentina RX winner finished second at the opening round of World RX 2016 in Portugal last month.

"The car is not that bad, just a lot of damaged body parts. I'm really happy that there wasn't more damage. We're just driving like we did last year, with the tactic of not doing anything stupid and just to be in the top six or seven as much as we can. We had a lot of struggles on the first day in Hockenheim so it was really hard. Going from P15 to P10 and into the semis was really good, then it's just about having some luck in the semi-finals," said Larsson. "I really like to drive in the semi-finals, it's not so much about a good race time, it's just about being in the top three. We're aiming to be in the first line in the semi-final here of course, but it's not easy. The guys at the top are really fast. We just need to keep up the good work and we can be fast."

Larsson says he didn't expect to be able to fight for podiums this early in the season with his privateer team. "I didn't expect anything really. We haven't done that much to the car, just a small update with the engine and some small things with the suspension. I expected a lot from the other teams - I think EKS has taken the biggest step. If we can be top five or six all the time that will be amazing. The starts to the races here (in Belgium) will be more important than usual this weekend."
