Honda can't fix its electronics issues at Sepang MotoGP test

Honda will not be able to fix the electronics issues that have plagued its Sepang MotoGP test in time for the final day, according to Dani Pedrosa.

As Honda looks to develop its new-configuration engine ahead of the 2017 season, Pedrosa and team-mate Marc Marquez have both lost track time each day due to electrical gremlins.

Marquez stopped on track on the rain-hit Tuesday and felt he "basically couldn't test anything" with a lap tally limited to 33.

Pedrosa fared better, managing 44 laps each day, but said the issues that arose on Tuesday cannot be solved in time for the third and final day, with a fix targeted for the Phillip Island test from February 15.

"Today, basically, we did some more laps on the track to confirm some problems of yesterday," he said.

"Actually we did some improvements on that problem, but only about 50%, we couldn't fix all of the problems.

"Then a little later we found another problem and basically Marc and I suffered the same issues today, twice and I'm not sure but maybe that's the reason his bike was stopped once.

"We cannot fix that for tomorrow, unfortunately, but maybe in Japan they can fix it for the next test."

Pedrosa delivered an emphatic "no" when asked if he would be able to manage a race distance on the final day, and admitted Honda was still not sure what caused the Monday issues.

"Yesterday we had a problem, but we fixed part of this problem but not completely," he said.

"In the meantime, in the middle of [Tuesday] we found another problem again that we thought was nothing and again we had the same problem.

"The problem of yesterday we fixed a little bit, but we don't know exactly why this is happening.

"So maybe for the next test the problem of today can be fixed. The problem of yesterday we don't know."
