ERC team boss is a record-extending champion
Raimund Baumschlager, who guided Marijan Griebel to the inaugural FIA ERC Junior Under 28 Championship crown this season, has extended his record-breaking tally of Austrian rally titles to 14 following his success on Rallye Waldviertel today.
Co-driven by Pirmin Winklhofer, who partnered Griebel to ERC Junior glory in 2016, Baumschlager beat former ERC regular Hermann Neubauer to national honours in his Pirelli-equipped Volkswagen Polo R WRC following a thrilling climax to the event.
Baumschlager started the rally two points behind his younger compatriot and was eight-tenths of a second adrift of Neubauer. By winning the stage, however, Baumschlager not only won the rally but the championship as well.
As well as being an accomplished rally driver, Baumschlager, a winner of six European championship rallies, owns and runs the highly successful Baumschlager Rallye & Racing operation. He's also a respected driver coach and test driver.
