Farfus shows WTCR fighting qualities with ‘best touring car drive ever’
Augusto Farfus produced what he admitted later was his ‘best touring car drive ever’ after he battled from P19 to fifth in Race 1 at WTCR Race of Slovakia yesterday.
In challenging conditions, the Brazilian’s overtaking masterclass netter his best result in the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Car Cup presented by OSCARO.
“These races are all about finding the right spot on the opening lap and you need a good chunk of luck to just manage to get through,” said the BRC Hyundai N LUKOIL Racing Team pilot. “It worked and after I had some reasonable pace so I could also make progress. It’s the top five from P19, I don’t think anyone would have thought about that.”
After rear contact caused a puncture in Race 2, Farfus was at his overtaking best again in Race 3, this time making up 10 places in his charge from P17 to seventh.
