WRC Sweden success for World RX drivers

Reigning FIA World Rallycross Champion Johan Kristoffersson and his PSRX Volkswagen Sweden team mate Petter Solberg starred on Rally Sweden last weekend.

Kristoffersson took part in the World Rally Championship's snow event for the second time, driving a Skoda Fabia R5 and set two fastest RC2 stage times against far more experienced R5 competitors. He finished sixth in class and 17th overall. "I'm really happy with our weekend, we had a good feeling in the last two stages especially. I didn't intend to fight for positions but pushed hard to keep sixth in class at the end and two stage wins is fantastic," said Kristoffersson.

He added: "The main goal was to finish the rally and to develop my skills for the WRX joker laps. I definitely feel more prepared for the 2018 RX season now too. I hope to be back next year, maybe with some more rallies in advance to prepare even better."

2014 and 2015 World RX Champion Solberg took class victory in the Historic section of Rally Sweden and finished second overall, driving a Ford Escort Mk2. He was co-driven his wife Pernilla, Team Principal of PSRX Volkswagen Sweden in World RX, who is also a former rally driver and celebrated her birthday during the event. "It's always fantastic to compete on Rally Sweden, it's a special rally. We had a fun weekend and we are happy with the result. It was fantastic to see all the fans out on the stages," said Petter Solberg.
