Wilks ready for home race with Omse

British driver Guy Wilks is competing in his home round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship at Lydden Hill this weekend, driving an Olsbergs MSE Fiesta Supercar.

Wilks made his World RX debut at Lydden Hill last season and finished sixth in a JRM Racing Mini. The former JWRC driver shook down the OMSE Fiesta, which made it to the final at Mettet in Belgium two weeks ago in the hands of Francois Duval, near to Lydden Hill on Thursday.

"I had a short acclimatisation to the car more than a test. Time was definitely against us, the team have been really busy, but we did some practice starts and some good straight line tests with heavy braking to get a good feel for the car in a straight line. Other than that, it's down to practice to get a good feel and setup for the car."

Working in his role as co-commentator to World RX television commentator Andrew Coley, Wilks has been able to gain further knowledge of World RX events ahead of his return to the driving seat. "The key to the first day is to get good times and to stay out of trouble, it's as simple as that. I've been lucky traveling to the events for the television show to know what you need to give yourself the best chance of getting to the semi-finals. You need reliability and to not get dragged into fighting on track. The qualifying races are against the clock, I say it time and time again on the TV and that's what I've got to keep in my head here."

In the Saturday morning free practice session, Wilks set the 19th fastest time. Andreas Bakkerud was quickest.
