Welcome to 2017: The Year of the Truck!

2017 has arrived, and with it comes huge anticipation for a new season of the FIA European Truck Racing Championship, the most spectacular truck competition on the planet.

With the nine event calendar having been made public last month, the teams and drivers are busy getting ready for the new campaign with testing scheduled to begin next month. It is an appetising period of the season just now, as more questions are posed for the year ahead.

How will reigning champion Jochen Hahn begin a title defence with his new IVECO truck? Can Buggyra International Racing System go one better and take the crown away from Hahn in 2017? Will Tankpool24 Mercedes-Benz and double champion Norbert Kiss build on a promising 2016 campaign? Will Rene Reinert mount a title challenge after some stellar performances last season? And can Steffi Halm continue her fantastic achievements of 2016? Will Ryan Smith capitalise on his first win at Most and other excellent races?
All of these questions and more are set to be answered as the grid starts to form and target the Red Bull Ring in May, before heading on to the sunshine of Misano, the spectacle of the ADAC Truck Grand Prix at Nürburgring in July, the new challenge of Slovakia Ring, the frenetic Eastern European double-header of Hungaroring and Most, the tightly packed action of Zolder and then the atmospheric Le Mans in September before the drama in Jarama finale in October.
