Wales Rally GB: Ogier aims for fourth WRC manufacturers’ crown for Volkswagen

Having claimed his fourth consecutive WRC world drivers' title, Sebastien Ogier is determined to lead Volkswagen Motorsport to a fourth straight manufacturers' crown this weekend at Wales Rally GB.

Between Ogier and team-mate Jari-Matti Latvala the pair of Volkswagen Motorsport drivers need to claim a combined total of 34 points to secure the WRC manufacturers' title with a round to spare, regardless of what nearest rivals Hyundai achieves over the final two rounds in Wales and Australia.

After winning the past three Wales Rally GB and being on a three round victory stretch, Ogier is full of confidence at an event he failed to score a single point at during his first five attempts.

"I am very happy to travel to the Rally Great Britain as world champion. However, I remain just as motivated, as we also want to defend the Manufacturers' title for Volkswagen," Ogier said. "The Wales Rally GB is one of the rallies that is the most steeped in history.

"It took me a while to find my feet in Wales. The learning process was probably longer here than at any other rally. I have won here three times since joining Volkswagen. After everything I've been through in Wales, I can now say that I feel right at home here.

"An important factor is, as it is every year, the weather. If no rain is predicted in the weather forecasts, you can actually still count on there being rain. I expect very wet and foggy routes, which are very typical for this time of year."

In every year Ogier has clinched the WRC world drivers' title with Volkswagen the German manufacturer has sealed the team honours and are once again heavy favourites with a 62-point advantage over Hyundai.
