Vuković Motorsport confirms three-car ETCC bid

The 2017 FIA European Touring Car Cup continues to grow in strength with confirmation of a new three-car entry from BESAGROUP Team Vuković Motorsport.

Stepping up from the Deutschen Tourenwagen Cup (the DTC), BESAGROUP Team Vuković Motorsport's ETCC challenge will be headed by Milenko Vuković, with the Germany-based Swiss driver targeting a title challenge in his first season of international competition.

Croatian Franjo Kovac will bring his vast expertise and engineering know-how to the team's second entry, while the third driver will be announced in the New Year when details of BESAGROUP Team Vuković Motorsport's choice of car for the ETCC Super 2000 Cup will also be revealed.

News of BESAGROUP Team Vuković Motorsport's ETCC campaign follows confirmation late last month of an exciting schedule for 2017 when a visit to the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife and a return to Monza will be among the highlights.

François Ribeiro, Head of Eurosport Events, the ETCC promoter, welcomed BESAGROUP Team Vuković Motorsport to the series. He said: "It's great Vuković Motorsport has chosen the ETCC for its next motorsport challenge and we look forward to the team enjoying a significant return on its investment through live coverage on Eurosport and online, while also building in stature and growing its experience. The ETCC provides an accessible first step on the international touring car racing ladder for both drivers and entrants. Let the adventure begin for all the Vuković team."

Milenko Vuković said: "We're very pleased to have announced our participation in next year's ETCC for what we hope will be a long-term participation in the series. The ETCC is organised and promoted by the same team behind the WTCC, while the coverage on Eurosport is another major bonus. I know the competition is going to be very strong but my aim will be to challenge for the title by making the most of Franjo's knowledge of front-wheel-drive touring cars."

Monza in Italy will open the 2017 ETCC season on 30 April with a visit to the Hungaroring next up followed by trips to Nürburgring Nordschleife (27 May), Vila Real in Portugal (25 June), Zolder in Belgium (17 September) and Most, a new venue for the series, on 8 October.
