Timmy Hansen wins Q4 as Loeb is top qualifier

Norway's Petter Solberg and Sweden's Timmy Hansen set the fastest times in Q3 and Q4 at the third round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship at Hockenheim in Germany, but France's Sebastien Loeb is Top Qualifier in the Intermediate Classification with the semi-finals and final taking place tomorrow (Sunday) morning.

Hansen's fastest time in Q4 meant he moved ahead of Sweden's Johan Kristoffersson in the Intermediate Classification, the PSRX Volkswagen Sweden driver third at the end of day two and set to join Loeb on the front row of semi-final one. Kristoffersson and reigning Champion Mattias Ekstrom duelled on track in Q4, the Audi S1 driver who is competing in both DTM and World RX this weekend finishing fourth in the Intermediate Classification and will start on the outside of the front row of semi-final two, alongside Hansen.

Solberg battled back from dragging his stricken Volkswagen Polo to the end of the race in Q2 yesterday to back up his fastest time in Q3 with second in Q4. He not only made it into the top 12 but will start on row two of semi-final one and is set to be joined by Sweden's Kevin Hansen and Kevin Eriksson, and Latvia's Reinis Nitiss. Topi Heikkinen battled with Nitiss and Britain's Guy Wilks in Q3 and won his race in Q4 to make it three EKS Audi S1s in the semi-finals. Heikkinen's on-track battle with Robin Larsson on the opening day was replicated by Nitiss on day two, Larsson the only one of the three not to make it into the semi-finals, but he is first reserve should any of the top twelve be unable to start tomorrow morning. MJP Racing Team Austria's Timo Scheider, STARD's Timur Timerzyanov and Hoonigan Racing Divison's Ken Block will join Heikkinen on the grid for semi-final two.

Block's team mate Andreas Bakkerud finished one place behind Larsson in the Intermediate Classification in 14th and didn't make it into the semi-finals.
