Team review: Peugeot-Hansen

Tuesday, 23. 01. 2018 - 16:31, Public relations

Team review: Peugeot-Hansen

Team: Team Peugeot-Hansen

Car: Peugeot 208 WRX

Drivers: Sebastien Loeb (FRA) #9, Timmy Hansen (SWE) #21

Teams' Championship Points: 415

Teams' Championship Position: 2nd

France's Sebastien Loeb and Sweden's Timmy Hansen retained their places at Team Peugeot-Hansen for the FIA World Rallycross Championship in 2017, driving a pair of new Peugeot 208 WRXs. For the first time in World RX history the team didn't win an event, but did finished second in the Teams' Championship

Here's how Loeb and Hansen fared head-to-head:

Qualifying Race Wins

SL 20 - 15 TH

Hansen won at least one qualifying race in 10 of the 12 rounds, but didn't in Sweden or France. He claimed three race wins in South Africa. Loeb meanwhile won a race at all 12 rounds in 2017, something that none of the other top drivers managed. He won three races at Hockenheim and in the UK.

Quickest Qualifying Times:

SL 3 - 5 TH

Loeb set two quickest qualifying times on his way to TQ (top qualifier) in round three at Hockenheim, and also set a quickest time in his home event at Loheac. Hansen also set a quickest time in Hockenhiem, along with in the UK and at Estering. He was twice quickest in Cape Town.

Semi-final starts:

SL 11 - 12 TH

A spin in a qualifying race meant Loeb's chance of a full set of semi-finals went away at the first round in Barcelona, but he did win his semi-final in Latvia. Hansen made it to the semi-finals at every event and won his semi in Belgium, France and South Africa.

Final starts:

SL 8 - 11 TH

Loeb started in eight finals in 2017, which included six podium finishes and a five-event run of podiums between Norway (round six) and Latvia (round ten). Hansen only didn't qualify for the final at one event (Lativa) and finished on the podium four times.

Championship points:

SL 214 - 201 TH

Peugeot-Hansen's drivers were the closest on points of any of the manufacturer-supported teams. Had he not had 25 points deduced for technical penalties in the season, Hansen would have finished ahead of Loeb.

Championship position:

SL 4th - 5th TH

Both drivers improved on their 2016 Drivers' Championship positions by one place in 2017. Fourth was Loeb's best overall finish, but Hansen wasn't able to match his personal best of second in 2015.
