Remembering when… (Dirk) Müller made WTCC history
Dirk Müller made FIA World Touring Car Championship history on 10 April 2005 when he won the first race of the new WTCC era at Monza.
BMW driver Müller led from pole position to beat home hero Gabriele Tarquini into second place with Tarquini's Alfa Romeo team-mate Augusto Farfus fending off Andy Priaulx, the eventual champion, for third.
And by finishing second in the second race of the day, Müller left Monza leading the championship with a six-point advantage ahead of race two winner James Thompson.
Monza hosts rounds three and four of the 2017 FIA World Touring Car Championship, WTCC OSCARO Race of Italy. Tickets are available to download for free at OSCARO.it.
