Remembering when… Bennani bossed the WTCC

Mehdi Bennani joined an illustrious list when he triumphed at FIA WTCC Race of China in Shanghai in 2014, a result that made him the first Arabic driver to win an FIA world championship motor race.

Bennani started his privateer Honda on pole position and kept in front throughout the 14 laps for an emotional maiden World Touring Car Championship victory ahead of Tiago Monteiro and José María López (pictured right), who would win the first of three WTCC titles that season.

China is the next stop on the 2017 WTCC schedule when Bennani will be back behind the wheel of his Sébastien Loeb Racing Citroën C-Elysée. The event takes place at the Ningbo International Speedpark from 13-15 October.
