Multiple prizes at Annual Awards for JD Classics

Maldon, Essex - 24 January 2014: The year-round success of leading classic car and historic competition car preparation specialist JD Classics during 2013 was recognised and rewarded this week by Motor Racing Legends at its prestigious annual Awards Dinner, held at the Royal Automobile Club on London's Pall Mall.

The JD Classics race team and Jaguar Heritage Racing achieved numerous outstanding historic racing successes throughout an exceptionally busy and hard-fought 2013 season, mainly in the hands of talented drivers Alex Buncombe, Chris Ward, John Young and Andrew Smith, as well as JD Classics' founder Derek Hood.

JD Classics' 1959 Lister Costin took pride of place on display in the RAC Club's foyer to greet all guests for the exclusive Motor Racing Legends awards evening. This car was raced extensively throughout the 2013 historic racing season at motor circuits as diverse as Donington, Spa Francorchamps and the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve in Portugal.

The display of the JD Lister Costin within the Royal Automobile Club proved fitting for the evening's proceedings, as this car was not only being named winner of Motor Racing Legend's Class C6 (disc brake cars over 2-litre), but it also received the coveted Stirling Moss Trophy for the series' overall winner in 2013. JD's victorious Lister drivers - Chris Ward, John Young, Andrew Smith and Alex Buncombe, accompanied by Derek Hood - collected the prestigious accolade, which was presented to them by Sir Stirling Moss himself.

JD Classics' Touring cars - the ex-Tom Walkinshaw Jaguar XJS and the Broadspeed Cologne Ford Capri - also enjoyed a very successful year racing in 2013.

Having raced extensively in the JD Classics Challenge race series against a highly competitive field of contemporary Touring Cars, JD's cars both excelled, with the Capri being named the JD Classics Challenge winner overall, plus the victor of Class C3 (Group 1 Touring Cars). The ex-Tom Walkinshaw XJS also received the winner accolade for Class C1 (Group A Touring Cars), as driven by Gary Pearson, Chris Ward, Alex Buncombe and John Young.

With a full and successful 2013 season now behind them, the JD Classics Team are now fully-focused on the 2014 season, with cars being prepared for the new 72nd Goodwood Road Racing Club Members Meeting at the end of March commencing the years busy historic racing calendar. JD Classics is also preparing cars for a host of other motor sport events, including the 2014 Mille Miglia, Le Mans, Laguna Seca and the Goodwood Revival.

Commenting on a very successful 2013 racing season, and the prestigious Motor Racing Legends awards, JD Classics Managing Director Derek Hood said: "Last year was a fantastic one for every aspect of our business at JD Classics. Our Team here did an amazing job all year, as did our talented team of drivers, so it is very rewarding to see this recognized with the Motor Racing Legends awards. I am already looking forward to a great season of racing again in 2014."
