Magalhães continues ERC title chase on SEAJETS Acropolis Rally

Bruno Magalhães will continue his bid for FIA European Rally Championship glory after entering next month's SEAJETS Acropolis Rally as the top seed.

Magalhães won the season-opening Azores Airlines Rallye in what was, at the time, a one-off appearance in the all-action ERC due to funding issues. However, after taking victory on the event he secured additional backing to contest Rally Islas Canarias where he finished third overall to extend his championship lead to 17 points.

Although ERC drivers can select six events from a total of eight on which to score points, Magalhães doesn't want to lose momentum and has now entered the third round of the season in a ŠKODA Fabia R5 co-driven, as ever, by namesake and fellow Portuguese Hugo Magalhães. They will be among the contenders for victory on the Lamia-based event from 2-4 June.

In addition to Magalhães, other drivers appearing on the provisional entry list include:

*Back-to-back ERC title winner Kajetan Kajetanowicz
*Multiple Middle East rally champion, Dakar winner and Olympic medallist Nasser Al-Attiyah
*Respective Polish and Turkish title holders Grzegorz Grzyb and Murat Bostanci
*ERC rising star Nikolay Gryazin
*GT racer turned rally driver Albert von Thurn und Taxis
*Greek champion George Philippedes
*European championship stalwart Antonín Tlusťák
*ERC2 contenders Tibor Érdi Jr, Zelindo Melegari and Sergey Remennik
*Three-strong Castrol Ford Team Turkey entry in ERC3 including Buǧra Banaz

Alexey Lukyanuk appeared on the initial entry list but his testing crash in Russia last week, which left him with multiple injuries, means his registration has been withdrawn.

Fourteen nationalities will be represented on the SEAJETS Acropolis Rally, with 12 drivers in top-of-the-range R5 cars. Click here for the provisional entry list.
