Mackschin remains focused on ETCC progression

Niklas Mackschin used the recent ETCC Awards Ceremony to underline his desire to step up to the FIA European Touring Car Cup's top tier in 2017.

Mackschin made it back-to-back Super 1600 titles this season, despite admitting the level of competition from rivals Andreas Rinke, Kevin Hilgenhövel, Tomáš Korený and Ulrike Krafft made it even harder than before to claim the coveted crown.

"I really hope I can drive next year and I hope I can do this in the ETCC top division," said the 22-year-old German.

The 2017 European Touring Car Cup gets underway at Monza in Italy from 28-30 April.
