Lukyanuk to defend ERC Rally Estonia crown

FIA European Rally Championship star Alexey Lukyanuk will contest auto24 Rally Estonia later this month, looking to repeat his victory there in 2015.

The rapid Russian scored his first ERC victory in Estonia last year, driving a ERC2-specification Mitsubishi rather than his usual Ford Fiesta R5 with which he is fighting for the 2016 title. He is currently 15 points behind the defending champion Kajetan Kajetanowicz, who will return to ERC action in Estonia after skipping the Kenotek Ypres Rally.

"It's always great to compete in Estonia as there is a good atmosphere," said Lukyanuk, who was Estonian champion in 2014.

"For sure we want to win here again but it is not an easy task. Looking to the entry list there is many fast drivers from Europe and as the previous years have shown the local boys are here fast and hungry for the podium."
