Lithuania's Naujokaitis joins World RX in Skoda Fabia

Lithuania's Nerijus Naujokaitis will make his FIA World Rallycross Championship debut at Loheac in France next month, driving a brand new Skoda Fabia Supercar.

The two-time European Autocross Champion will race in the remaining European-based rounds of World RX this season (in France, Barcelona, Latvia and Germany) in the newly-built R5 based Fabia, before targeting a full-time programme in 2017.

"The car has been built by the best Lithuanian and Czech Republic engineers," said Team Manager, Rimvis Mati. "Our target for this season is to test the car, to understand its behavior on different tracks with different setups and find the right pace for World RX. Next year we plan to participate as a permanent entry. We understand how high the level of the other teams and drivers is - the competition is tough!"

The new team, based in Sakiai in Lithuania, has begun testing the new car this week in the Czech Republic and has realistic expectations ahead of its debut in France. "Scoring a single point in Loheac and writing down our names in the book of rallycross history would be more than enough for us at our first event," said Mati.

"We are looking for a steady move from the back to the front of the pack. Everyone in the team has been waiting for this kind of challenge for many years."
