Griebel crashes out of ERC Junior fight in the Azores

Marijan Griebel has crashed out of the intense battle for ERC Junior victory on the Azores Airlines Rallye.

Leading overnight, the German driver had conceded a 6.6-second lead to Diogo Gago on the first stage of the final day, and then went off near the end of the Tronqueira test. Both he and co-driver Stefan Kopczyk were reported to be OK by the following drivers.

Gago was only 0.9s slower than Chris Ingram in the stage, meaning he has a 27.6s lead over the driver that beat him to the category victory in the Azores 12 months ago.
