ERC final-round status excites Rally Liepāja boss
The closing round of the 2018 FIA European Rally Championship might be more than 10 months away but Rally Liepāja chief Raimonds Strokšs is already relishing the prospect of his event hosting the ERC for a sixth time.
Rally Liepāja will bring the curtain down on the 2018 ERC from 12-14 October with an all-gravel spectacular on Latvia's Baltic coast. And after five prestigious FIA titles were decided on last October's fifth running, Strokšs, the RA Events Director, former driver and brainchild of Rally Liepāja has every reason to be excited.
"To organise the final round of the ERC is a great honour, and great responsibility at the same time," he said. "In a rally when the championship title is on the line, every smallest detail is of utmost scrutiny. Above all that, in a year when Latvia is celebrating its centennial anniversary, running a perfect event will give us an amazing opportunity to cheer the name of Latvia and rally city Liepāja even louder."
Rally Liepāja is the eighth event of the 2018 ERC season, which opens with the Azores Airlines Rallye from 22-24 March.
