EKS and Peugeot-Hansen battle for 2016 teams' title

Sweden's Mattias Ekstrom has already been crowned as the 2016 FIA World Rallycross Champion, but heading into the final round of World RX this weekend at Rosario in Argentina, it's still all to play for in the Teams' Championship.

EKS pairing Ekstrom and Topi Heikkinen currently lead the standings by 17 points over reigning Teams' Champions Team Peugeot-Hansen. Timmy Hansen and Sebastien Loeb will be pushing hard this weekend to overhaul EKS, who have led the points since the first round in Portugal. "It's still an incredible feeling to be the 2016 FIA World Rallycross Champion," said Ekstrom. "We have experienced some outstanding weeks after the triumph at Estering. It's been a super busy time, but I've enjoyed every second. Now it's time to try and complete our mission. There is still one trophy up for grabs and we really want to take it home."

Team Peugeot-Hansen won the 2015 Team's Championship at the Italian round. Team principle Kenneth Hansen says the squad are just focusing on their own job this weekend. "The focus is for sure to try and have the speed we had in Spain and Latvia," said Hansen. "If we have the setup right and both drivers have a good weekend, then we will see where it takes us. Hopefully we can be at the top as we were in Latvia and score a lot of points. What happens with Ekstrom's Audis we can't do anything about, but we won't give up the fight. We will just do the best we can."

There is also a close fight for third overall in the Teams' points, between Volkswagen RX Sweden and Hoonigan Racing Division.
