Bryntesson graduates to supercar

Norway's Thomas Bryntesson will graduate from RX2 to Supercar in the FIA European Rallycross Championship this season, as part of a two-car JC Raceteknik team.

Bryntesson finished second in RX2 last year, and will race an Olsbergs MSE built Ford Fiesta Supercar this season alongside experienced Scandinavian Supernational rallycross driver, Ola Froshaug. Both drivers will race in the five-round Euro RX Championship, and the RallyX Nordic Championship to further develop their skills.

"It will be really fun to make the step up to Supercar. I can't even describe how much I'm look forward to the season," said Bryntesson. "To compete in Supercar has been my goal since I started motor racing, so it's really a dream come true. This is the first year in a new class, so it'll be tough, but I have a good team behind me and I look forward to the challenge. During my career I have always fought for victories, and in Supercar I will do the same - to try to race at the top. Rallycross Supercar's are incredibly cool, they are quite similar to drive to the Lites, but with far more horsepower in a Supercar - 2017 will be really good."

Froshaug also says his move to Supercar is a dream come true. "Everyone who is involved in rallycross dreams of someday competing in Supercar, so it's obviously exciting," he said. "Driving in the team with Thomas will be really good - he is really developing and is very fast, and I have the experience. Despite the tough competition, I will aim high. The goal is to be in the semi-finals and finals in both Euro RX and RallyX Nordic."

The first round of the FIA European Rallycross Championship joins the opening round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on the first weekend in April.
