Andersson confirmed for Euro RX in 2017

Sweden's Magda Andersson will step up to the FIA European Rallycross Championship for Supercar next season, racing a Volkswagen Polo RX Supercar for Marklund Motorsport, alongside the team's regular driver, Anton Marklund.

Andersson was involved in a battle for the Euro RX TouringCar title until the final round at the Estering this season, and only just missed out on winning the championship to Norway's Ben-Phillip Gundersen by a single point. "I'm really looking forward to working with Marklund Motorsport next year. I'm super happy to have the opportunity to race with one of the world's best rallycross teams, with one of the best Supercars," she said. "Looking back on the last two years in TouringCar, myself and my team felt that it's time for the next challenge and moving up to Supercar is very exciting. I'm really looking forward to the start of the season in Barcelona next April."

Marklund Motorsport owner and team principal Jan Marklund is pleased to have secured Andersson's services for 2017. "Magda is extremely talented and we're really looking forward to having her in the team," he said. "With Magda and Anton we will be in a good position to fight for the Euro RX medals. Both drivers have similar driving styles, which will make it easier with set-ups."

World RX podium finisher Anton Marklund will combine racing in Euro RX with an increased circuit-racing programme as he builds on his driving development and experience. "I'm really happy to have my plans for next season already set at this point of the year," he said. "Even if it will be less rallycross, it will give me time to do more circuit racing. 2017 will be a year where I focus on developing as a driver and gaining different experiences."
