Albatec racing fields three cars in Loheac

British-based team Albatec Racing will field three Peugeot 208 Supercars in the eighth round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship at Loheac in France next week.

Reigning Euro RX champion Tommy Rustad will lead the team's assault on the World RX event, joined by team owner Andy Scott and the Scottish squad's French Rallycross Championship driver, Philippe Maloigne.

"I'm really looking forward to doing Loheac and being part of such a big event in the World Championship. I'm very happy that Andy has offered me the chance to get more time in the car, which is good preparation for the next round of Euro RX (in Barcelona)," said Rustad, who despite his experience has never competed at the French circuit. "I think if we can put everything together we can reach the semi-finals, and maybe even the final. I know the track is quite fast which suits me, with loads of grip on the gravel section. I've watched lots of videos of past races, and studied in-car footage to be as well prepared as possible."

Albatec has previous form of running high-profile drivers in the Loheac round of the championship. In 2013, the team ran a Peugeot 208 for now Citroen World Rally Championship driver Kris Meeke, and a for multiple World Touring Car Champion Yvan Muller last season. "It's always a fantastic event at Loheac, with massive crowds who are very passionate about rallycross, it's the number one motorsport in France," said team owner Scott.

Scott added: "We always have a great weekend there where performance is boosted by the strong support of the fans, it's almost like a home event for me." Maloigne attended his first ever rallycross at Loheac in 2013. "I discovered rallycross as a spectator in 2013 at Loheac, and raced there for the first time in 2014 in Super1600. I'm very excited about racing there alongside Andy and Tommy. The track is a true rallycross venue but it's not just the track that makes the weekend so special. The atmosphere is among the best you'll find in rallycross."
