A two-car Peugeot Rally Academy line-up for Germany!

As was the case at January's Rallye Monte-Carlo, the Peugeot Rally Academy will field a two-car squad for Rallye Deutschland. Last year's 208 Rally Cup victors José Antonio Suarez and Candido Carrera will compete in the WRC2 class in their Peugeot 208T16, while Jordan Berfa and Damien Augustin will be targeting a top result in WRC3 driving a Peugeot 208R2.
.The 22-strong WRC2 entry list features the class's most prominent experts who will serve as a useful yardstick for Jose Antonio Suarez and Candido Carrera.

.Jordan Berfa and Damien Augustin will make their second appearance of the year in the colours of the Peugeot Rally Academy after securing an assertive second place in WRC3 with the team on the Rallye Monte-Carlo.

.Rallye Deutschland, the first ‘clear' asphalt round of the 2016 FIA World Rally Championship, is renowned for the challenge and variety of its stages, which range from narrow lanes through the Mosel Valley vineyards, to the roads of the southern Eifel Mountains and the tracks which crisscross the Baumholder army ranges.

LOOKING TO GET BACK INTO THE SWING

A competitive performance on the Rallye Monte-Carlo at the beginning of the year saw Jose Antonio ‘Cohete' Suarez and Candido Carrera collect a superb sixth place in WRC2. Unfortunately, a number of errors in Portugal and a mechanical problem in Sardinia prevented them from following that up with similar results.

The Spaniard is particularly at ease on asphalt, as illustrated by the three victories he scored on sealed surfaces during last year's 208 Rally Cup. He is therefore fired up ahead of Germany's round of the 2016 WRC: "There aren't enough parts for me to contest the Rallye Deutschland in the EVO version of the Peugeot 208T16 but I'm really looking forward to working with the team again. We won't be under any pressure in Germany and we intend to take the week step by step. My intention is to continue to familiarise myself with the Peugeot 208T16 and I'm aware that my position at the finish will depend in part on my speed and also on not making any mistakes. I will do all I can to gain more experience by making it to the end. If I can do that, I should be able to come away with a good result."

Another Peugeot 208T16 has been entered in WRC2 in Germany for Quentin Giordano and Thierry Salva. Their car will be run by Sébastien Loeb Racing.

JORDAN BERFA EAGER TO GET STARTED

The 2015 208 Rally Cup Junior winner Jordan Berfa is poised to make the second of his three appearances with the team this season. Ably assisted by his co-driver Damien Augustin, he has continued to attract attention since his podium finish on January's Rallye Monte-Carlo.

His three outings so far in the Peugeot 208R2 in France have all harvested R2 victories and he even finished ninth overall on the most recent round of the French Rally Championship. He is consequently in a positive frame of mind ahead of Rallye Deutschland: "Ideally, it would be great if I could finish ahead of the other two Peugeot 208R2s on the entry list. If the weather is dry, it won't be easy to mix it with the R3 runners but, as we saw on the Monte Carlo, anything can happen when the conditions get difficult. My aim is to not make any mistakes and reach the finish, but I would also like to use this event with the Peugeot Rally Academy to show what I am capable of."
